Review of Manhattan (1979) by Sapphire G — 06 Mar 2011
Good movie. It opens with images of Manhattan and its skyline, set to Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue." That was powerful. I loved that it was shot in black and white, it made me feel some sort of nostalgia I couldn't quite understand.
I was amused from time to time by Allen's wit, he is quick and often funny, I wasnt even too surprised that his Isaac was dating a 17-year old highschooler with the voice of a 12 year-old. The girl turned out to be the wisest and most stable character anyways.
The movie was hilarious at parts and always interesting. Not one I will particularly cherish though.
