Review of Manderlay (2005) by Isaac B — 11 Jul 2007
Should be required viewing for all social workers, teachers and politicians. One of the best feature films I have seen with regards to a real analysis of race in the U.S. An improvement over the too long 'Dogville' that will make many uncomfortable, and possibly angry.
Well, good, because Von Trier's scathing critique of of America as a "city on a hill," as well as democracy may bite, but if it leads to any kind of debate and self-reflection than it's doing what I believe Von Trier intended.
