Review of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013) by Loy M — 22 Jan 2014
Idris Elba (Pacific Rim, Thor, Prometheus, Legacy: Black Ops) takes on the lead role of the Movie titled courtesy the Autobiographical Book - Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. In a role that would have easily been awarded to Morgan Freeman, Idris proves why he is among the top actors of the Industry.
But then how can you forget the Director?
Thanks to the attention to detail by Director Justin Chadwick, nothing was left to chance. Subtle nuances from the accent, the posture, the body language, the gestures to the backdrop, the surroundings and actual historical locations have been beautifully chronicled and combined to give you this amazing story of a Great Leader.
Naomie Harris who stars as Winnie Mandela and the entire supporting casts from Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa, Zolani Mkiva and Jamie Bartlett deliver impeccable yet genuine performances.
Among all the documentaries and Movies dedicated to Mandela's Life - I feel this one does justice.
Final Verdict?
I truly enjoyed the movie and would recommend anyone who is a fan of this great man, to watch this movie at least once. You will be, if nothing else, impressed at how the movie has unfolded.
