Review of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013) by Ray H — 01 Jan 2014
As one of the greatest humanitarians to walk on the Earth, Nelson Mandela is shown with human flaws early on in this film. While the subject matter of his life is often too much for a 2 hour and 19 minute film to often address with more thought "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" packs some of his greatest achievements and struggles into the space.
Idris Elba captures the man, whose soft spoken words and sunny smile brought great change, struggle and hope to not only his country, his people and to the world at large. Naomie Harris often outshines Elba's performance as Winnie Mandela fighting her own battle for not only Mandela's freedom but for her own.
