Nelson Mandela is unquestionably an inspiration within contemporary history yet his life story is reduced to a somewhat uninspiring History Channel meets Hallmark Channel mash up of a movie. Idris Elba performance outstanding as his Mandela takes us from the roots as an agitator for freedom and rights during the apartheid era in the 1950's and 60's to his ascent to the presidency of South Africa in the 90's.
The cinematography could have been better while the music is overly melodramatic. (12-9-13).
