Review of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013) by Kate O — 04 Jan 2014

I liked this movie very much. Idris Alba is very, very good and Naomie Harris is magnificent. Yes, it is a long movie; yes, much of his life has to be compressed. However, the movie compelled me to read more, to learn more and to ask questions about Mandela; it allowed me to understand his relationship with Winnie, why they separated and divorced; and it pushed me to read more about South Africa, its history and its politics.

I can not understand its low 'tomatometer' by both critics and audiences. Go see it - you will not be disappointed.
