Review of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013) by Peter M — 22 Jan 2014

There is a lot of typically arrogant rubbishing of this film by the critics who appear to want the film to be something it never sets out to be. It is based on Mandela's autobiography and therefore it was never going to be a deeply analytical appraisal of Mandela's life.

The film tells Mandela's story from Mandela's perspective and it tells it in a straightforward and engaging way. It is not a great film but it is certainly well worth watching.
