Review of Manchester by the Sea (2016) by Elijah L — 09 Feb 2017
I understand the praise this film is getting, along with Moonlight. But both of those films didn't do much for me as Manchester is another film I'm not sure I'll ever watch again. It's a sad, depressing film about a guy who is sad and depressed and as the film unwinds you find out why he is that way, along with having to raise his nephew after his father, his brother who passed away.
This film just constantly makes you feel bad for this dude. It's an extremely emotional film and Casey Affleck does a really good job. The whole cast does, it has very unforced performances all around.
It's a pretty good film, but again I am not sure if I'll ever want to watch it again. It's just so sad.
