Review of Manchester by the Sea (2016) by Jerome K — 14 Feb 2017
This has got to be one of the most depressing movies I have seen in recent memory. Things just suck all around for Casey Affleck's character. The cloudly, cold, wintry atmosphere do an effective job of enhancing the tone as well.
In fact, I feel bad because the tragedies he's dealt even make me illogically associate that sadness with New England, where the film is set. Watch this if you're looking for a well-acted film about coping with loss, but don't be surprised if you feel like crap afterward.
