Review of Manchester by the Sea (2016) by Dale D — 23 Dec 2017
This movie is way overrated, nothing to see or learn here. boring, pointless, lots of movie making mistakes too. no one to care about. the exposition was jumpy, confusing, the time cuts were confusing, it was hard to tell if we were in the past or present, the few truly dramatic moments in the film were not worth the wait, use of music was poor, either not enough music here or too much and very cliche music there.
seems the high critic rating could be politically motivated by the Affleck actor name and the Massachusetts setting. there is huge chunk of american population that would never relate to this story in any way, don't know how this movie could make a profit, not a blockbuster, too narrow in demographics, I am a white american citizen from a broken family myself and I didn't like the movie.
don't see how blacks or hispanics could enjoy this film.
