Review of Manchester by the Sea (2016) by John P — 26 Feb 2017
We settled in to enjoy a Friday night movie rated at 96% and waited and waited for he movie to get off the ground - it never did. Slow with flashbacks that were difficult to spot at times, depressing and drawn out.
We rated it 10% and were sorry that we spent good money on it. There was nothing uplifting about any of the characters and the story was dull and boring. In contrast, we watched "Hacksaw Ridge" on Saturday night.
Now that was uplifting and worth every penny. The realistic war scenes were very hard to take of course but from start to finish we were taken through many emotions. It was all the more amazing because it was based on a true story.
Worth every percentage point of its rating in the 90s.
