Review of Management (2009) by Sean S — 06 Jul 2010
Not as cliched as The "Proposal" but not as original as "(500) days of summer" it sits somewhere in the middle with some conventional techniques but also avoids some cliches. The acting is good from both leads whoare funny and fitting in their roles.
What I personally like in a film is where you can learn something about the director through the film and if they can do it subtly it's even better, in "management" you can tell the director is a big Nirvana fan and misses Kurt Cobain with the few shots dedicated to Kurt Cobain.
This is a nice touch as usually you wouldnt hear anything about Kurt Cobain/Grunge in a rom-com and it certainly made me as a Nirvana/Kurt Cobain fan sit up and pay even more attention (I was also hoping for a possible Nirvana song in the credits but that could have been asking for too much).
Overall its not your typical rom com but it does have the typical character set and some scenes which your used to seeing but its fun and has some moments that will have you laughing which is a rare thing in the modern day rom com.
