Review of Man with a Movie Camera (1929) by Anders F — 06 Nov 2008
Hiding behind the term "experimental film" seems like a bit of a cop-out, but if it weren't for such films, there would be minimal progress in movies as we know them today (then again, with the release of "Saw V", that ideal seems questionable, at least on the surface). So while I wasn't all that enthusiastic at the end of this thingy, I will definitely credit it for being unique and using a style of editing that I'm sure was quite time-consuming.
And with that said, I would have rather watched this silent than with the updated soundtrack provided by the Alloy Orchestra. Either silent, or with an orchestra that didn't sound like all of their instruments were made by Casio. I swear to god, the music track sounded like a glorified MIDI sequence.
