Review of Man with a Movie Camera (1929) by David S — 09 Apr 2010
Simply incredible; there's so much happening on so many levels that it's hard to talk about it...
Vertov took Eisenstein's theories about montage and narrative and more-or-less showed him how it should be done.
You won't see a more complex or elegant meta-commentary on society, cinema, and 'authorship' than the scene(s) about cutting.
Remarkable.
