Review of Man with a Movie Camera (1929) by Greg D — 24 Sep 2010
Still as vital and exciting as it must have been in 1929. I don't think there's a technique that Vertov doesn't experiment with. The way it comments on itself by showing not only the footage shot by the man with the movie camera but footage of the man with the movie camera shooting, probably makes it the world's first meta-film.
An absolute must for anyone interested in the history of cinema and the best proof that quick cutting didn't start with MTV.
