Review of Man on Wire (2008) by Aren B — 01 Jan 2010
An engrossing documentary about a fascinating individual. Playing like a heist film and focalized on a truly unique individual (Philippe Petit) doing an amazing feat, "Man on Wire" is unlike most documentaries.
At no point do you feel that its documentary nature handicaps the film; "Man on Wire" is riveting regardless. It may not be the greatest documentary of the decade, but it's a film that shows how fact can be just as entrancing and entertaining as fiction, and in the case of Petit, far more bizarre.
