Review of Man on Wire (2008) by Paula M — 03 Feb 2010
Absolutely enthralling documentary. Philippe Petit is a man so completely driven/obsessed to be almost categorically insane. This documentary pulled you into the world of Petit and his friends as they scheme and plot to accomplish their goal.
The tension while you watch the film is very tangible. The one thing I would love to have seen would have been some type of closure to the people involved with Petit. When his friend Jean-Louis breaks down at the end, I mean completely breaks down it is the most powerful moment of the film yet they didn't capitalize on that.
Still, just an amazing film.
