Review of Man on Wire (2008) by Marcus W — 05 Mar 2010
One (French) man loves tightroping, and starts doing it in very high places, before finally deciding to do it across the World Trade Centre towers. Illegally.
This film looks back at the so-called "artistic crime of the century", which should probably be gripping and tense...were it not so easy. The only obstacles are occasional inept guards. It's interesting, the feat itself is astounding, and Phillippe is certainly an enthusiastic speaker, but it's built up to be this impressive heist movie and boils down to hiding under some tarpaulin for half an hour.
