Review of Man on Wire (2008) by Mike G — 23 Jul 2010
This is a great documentary and it stands as a testament to a daring, unique, mischievious performance artist of the highest magnitude (pun intended.) Philippe Petit achieved a grandeur that is beyond words with his walk over what is now sadly Ground Zero.
I can remember being a little kid when he did it and thinking, "my God, is that ever crazy..." and yet being completely inspired by the sheer beauty and audacity of it. The inside story is told in detail and it's full of laughs and a certain poignancy that nothing like this is likely to ever be done again.
Be sure to check out the short subjects on the DVD. They are just as engrossing.
