Review of Man on Wire (2008) by Derek O — 06 Sep 2011
I had seen bits and pieces but I finally decided to watch it in full. Perfect timing, between working two months beside the place where the two towers once stood, and reading "Let the Great World Spin" by Colum McCann which is based around this real-life event.
.. I felt oddly in place. There is really nothing but praise I can give to by far the best documentary ever made. But it's not that the directing was magnificent, or that the editing was perfect, or that the soundtrack and effects were spectacular.
No, this story is carried on the shoulders of somebody who transcends humanity in his simple ambition. His story is larger than life, and so is this film.
