Review of Man on the Moon (1999) by Oscar L — 24 Aug 2009
Did a good job of dramatizing Kaufman's conundrum: that his success depended on locating a tiny point between charming and alienating his audience, that he always had to keep the audience unsure whether they were getting his jokes or not, and that this point constantly shifted as his fame rose and crested.
Much better than most bio-pics, largely because Carrey re-creates Kaufman so well; two hours of Kaufman's best performance footage would be equally satisfying.
