Review of Man on Fire (2004) by Elizabeth B — 04 Jun 2014
I really don't understand the critical reception for this masterful film. Firstly, one of Denzel Washington's best roles, I'd say even better than Training Day. Secondly, Tony Scott's direction, which is superbly dark.
And finally, the script. I thought the script was marvelous, and Creasy's descent into darkness was a true journey, but it's when that small light appears to save his soul shines through in the end sequence.
I'd say this is Tony Scott's second best film; the visionary director will be missed.
