Review of Man on Fire (2004) by Darian J — 01 Aug 2013
This movie is just badass--I've always loved it. Denzel + Tony Scott obviously = yes. Way cool camera effects and use of abstract cut-aways throughout, and a perfect combination of showing Denzel being both unstoppable yet vulnerable to destruction as well.
He bleeds, but he presses on. The bond formed between he and Pita (Fanning) is unbreakable after the initial rough/stubborn beginning to their relationship. Walkens role is just the right touch, as well as Pitas familia.
Once the action starts, it keeps pace right until the end, which is surprisingly emotional. I shouldn't say that though; it's Denzel after all.
