Review of Man on Fire (1987) by Joe G — 17 Jun 2012
I really enjoyed this film. Denzel Washington is terrific as the sad but dangerous Creasy. His fatherly relationship with the little girl he guards is touching and makes his subsequent actions believable.
Chritopher Walken's lowkey performance is perfect as the buddy who understands Creasy's tortured soul. The stylized camera effects, tinted color and music gives the Mexican locale a surreal atmosphere that is often analogous to Creasy's state of mind.
In the end, Denzel's character gets his revenge and is redeemed as well. Good film.
