Review of Man on Fire (1987) by Matt M — 07 Jun 2013
A former government agent and current alcoholic is hired as a bodyguard of the daughter of a wealthy family in Mexico, to protect her from the threat of kidnapping, a criminal trend in their city. Tony Scott's frantic filmmaking style can sometimes be overwhelming, but in this film he does a good job in balancing the plot and setting up a close relationship between the little girl and the bodyguard before the thrilling and exciting second part.
Washington delivers a reliably strong performance.
