Review of Man on a Ledge (2012) by Mloy X — 06 Jul 2012
"That's what's great about this county. If you want it bad enough, you can make it back. Hmm? In this city, on this island, we don't go to work, we go to war! And if somebody takes something from you, you take it back. And more." --- David Englander (Ed Harris).
This was really better than what I expected, I wasn't even interested in seeing it in the first place. The characters were pretty generic, somewhat two-dimensional-- the good guys were good, the bad guys were bad, with one exception, Genesis Rodriguez who playes "Angie"; her character seems to step just a little outside the box of the token pretty-face. The movie is not really any different from other similar films from the same genre, like Mission Impossible, but seeing the caper unfold was still pretty cool. The story was basic, no real suprises there (maybe just one really important twist) but other than that one has to really suspend disbelief in order to make it through the incredible and outrageous events that occur but it was entertaining nonetheless.
