Review of Man on a Ledge (2012) by Michael P — 20 Oct 2012
Knew nothing about this film before sitting down to watch it. I'm glad of this, cos I think it may have spoilt it. The title is pretty self explanatory...the requisite man on said ledge, but all is not as it seems. The plot is nicely pieced together, and had me guessing all the way through...I had no idea what was going on for most of the 1st half, and that really added to my enjoyment. The clues to the story are offered in small snippets and it really builds the tension as the film gathers pace. It's a great cast, and some nice comic moments from Ed Burns and Jamie Bell (the boy has really moved on from his dancing days)....Worthington is a little too intense in places, but soon levels out and carries the film well. Some lovely shots throughout, though this is not a film heavy on cinematography. Peering over the ledge with Nick - a nice metaphor for a man with few choices left.
A well timed reveal, a good plot, an enjoyable film.
