Review of Man of Tai Chi (2013) by Udayalaksmanakartiyasa H — 31 Aug 2013
Surprisingly entertaining. I really set the bar low on this movie. But hey I got more. From the beginning, I noticed how there are a lot of MMA position references. That's an upgrade to this kind of choreographed fighting movie.
The Tai Chi part is also embedded quite well. I thought this will be another movie that's annoyingly misnamed, like the new Karate Kid. The biggest plus is the making a demon plot. I really appreciate that, to put something quite thoughtful so it didn't just became a brawl after brawl movie.
It's quite funny to watch the final battle with Keanu being so much taller than Chen. And how Keanu is just so good at fighting. At some point I thought, of course, how can you win against The Chosen One.
Haha. What I hate is how they wasted Iko Uwais skill. I went for this movie to watch the battle between Tiger Chen and Iko Uwais. But Iko just got to play catch and run with Tiger?? F*ck u, Keanu.
