Review of Man of Steel (2013) by Alex T — 02 Apr 2016
It begins with lots of promise: a well told story of Superman's Krypton origins, and the background to General Zod - a rather different villain as he doesn't seem to be too unreasonable at the beginning.
Nevertheless, the originality and intelligence dwindles as the film descends into a cliched finale of, admittedly impressive, explosive action that offers little to differentiate from many of this genre.
Nonetheless, it is a solid blockbuster with a stellar cast, just not quite with the directorial and creatuve flair of Nolan's Batman trilogy.
