Review of Man of Steel (2013) by Jacob M — 24 Mar 2016
Man of Steel is a new take on the character of Superman. While his origin stays mostly in tact, what follows is not. Snyder makes Clark Kent feel more human by taking away the old "boy scout" label.
Showing the audience Clark's struggle to keep his power hidden while hiding in plain sight. The performance of Russell Crow, as Jor-El, is amazing. The ghostly father that guides his lost son to become the world's savior is a great journey that we are invited to join.
While the destruction level of the film is quite high and may turn some away, I quite enjoyed watching two meta humans fight it out while Superman tries to find his way as the hero of the story and save humanity from certain death.
All in all an entertaining movie that lacks some character development from some, but a fun movie nonetheless.
