Review of Man of Steel (2013) by David C — 26 Jan 2017
Man of Steel has all the key ingredients to be a classic, the casting from Henry Cavill to Laurence Fishburne as Perry White is phenomenal. The influence of Christopher Nolan can be felt throughout the movie, from its ability to depict visually extraordinary events in what feels like a real world context, to the epic soundtrack from Hans Zimmer.
At times the movie feels slightly disjointed and certainly lacks in opportunities for the audience to experience any light relief from the intensity of the drama throughout. Which is a shame because it is just that which brings such success to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
On the whole it is an enjoyable movie experience that just falls short of it potential. Rather than feeling super powered like the man of steel you finish this movie feeling slightly worn out from the overly dark nature of the movie.
