Review of Man of Steel (2013) by Ryan T — 17 Jun 2017
There are a lot of positives aspects regarding this remake of Superman. The darker Nolan look and feel in conjunction with the deeper backstory are excellent additions, but what could've been a truly epic film begins to cut corners in making sense.
Everything revolving around Lois Lane's character is damaging to the film. The miscast of Adams, who is obviously a decade older than Cavil, to the simply stupid ending, and everything in between (like why Zodd apparently cares about her enough to kidnap her, search her mind, but not even search her belongings) is something only the ardent of fans or those with the logic of children would wish to believe makes sense.
The tornado is another utterly stupid scene. Did they do any research on tornadoes at all? Clearly not. Most of the rest of the cast, like Costner, Kent, Crowe, and especially Shannon as Zodd were excellent choices.
