This film had so much potential, but it suffered from bad storytelling, and boring characters! Not to mention another DBZ ripoff! They really wanted me to like this movie, dammit! What the hell was I thinking when I walked out of the theater and writing down that it marked its place up there with "The Dark Knight"!? HEY FILMAKERS! STOP MAKING ME STUPID YOU SCAM ARTISTS!!

As for Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, he wasn't as good as Christopher Reeves. He just felt like too much of a pretty boy, and was bland, not showing that much personality. They never established him into the kind of superhero whom everyone could relate to, because the writers here only show him that he can't for the life of him decide whether or not he has to expose himself to the world, and that he likes to save people. What's even the biggest problem here, is that he's been made into a huge jerk! Some fanboys may disagree, but that is not the superman who most people remember, and making him into a selfish bastard doesn't encourage anything into making us believe that he's the savior whom this planet needs!

Oh, and speaking of which, they really went out of the way to pound us over the head with constant religious symbolism, and damn, is it obnoxious in this flick or what!? Yeah, we get it, he's trying to be like Jesus Christ, can we please get the heck on with this!? Even that preacher he spoke to in that church made me uncomfortable, because he looked more like a pedophile than a strong man of faith!

What next? Oh yes, the miscasting of Louis Lane in the style of the Julie and Julia star Amy Adams! I just got through looking up information on the actress, and I am totally taken aback by seeing that she was born in 1974! By paring Adams up with Henry Cavill, who is 9 years younger than her, they think that it wouldn't be a big deal? Personally, I think THAT'S JUST FREAKIN CREEPY! If the actress casted as Louis is maybe a year or two older than Cavill, fine, that's cool, but damn! Besides the age gap problem, I'm sorry, but the kind of face that woman has just screams cartoonish and obnoxious, because I mostly remember her as the princess Giselle in the Disney film Enchanted. I have a hard time trying to take her seriously, doing a performance like this one. The past Louis Lane, played by the lovely Margot Kidder had charisma, and had a great chemistry with Clark. But here, Louis is introduced as nothing more than a b$#^! And her chemistry with our hero is nonexistent here as well. You have to do allot better than having corny lines such as "You know, they say it's all downhill after the first kiss?" Sign......The chemistry here is as convincing as Bella and Edward from Twilight!(eyeroll) It's because it's usually about the looks, I'm not exaggerating here.

Some situations here would have been easy enough for a four year old to resolve, and the villain was one of the weakest I've seen since Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four(2005)! Now don't make me out to be a fool here, because I like Michael Shannon. I think he's a fine actor, and he has potential to do something great. However, playing General Zod, just felt like it was too long of a stretch for him. He seemed grim, and he felt intimidating, but the dialogue he was given felt sloppy and too over the top! Even his evil plans for power, in order to give this film some sense of a plot, just felt like it's a ripoff from one of the episodes from the animated series Aladdin! It made Zod look like an idiot, and this is another reason why this reboot is a huge letdown!

The more I think about this, the farther away I want to stay from it! Giving this the same tone as the Dark Knight trilogy was a bad idea in the first place, and these talented people have wasted our time and money on something which should have been great! Alas, how the mighty have fallen! Give me the dark knight any day of the week, along with the Richard Donner Superman. This just doesn't have a point to exist, no matter how hard you try to defend it!
