Review of Man of Steel (2013) by Lewis C — 19 Feb 2018
Man of Steel is a solid reboot into the Superman franchise. Although the tone of the character is darker than previous instalments, Henry Cavill is the best superman since Christopher Reeve. Cavill has strong chemistry with Amy Adams too as Lois Lane, who is great in the role as well.
The rest of the cast is good enough, particularly General Zod. The action sequences are very well shot and this is what Zack Snyder does best. However, there is vast amounts of destruction and some dark elements of the movie, potentially turning many people off.
However, Superman is doing his very best to save mankind even though it may not always seem that way to the general public. He struggles trying to adapt to his new world as a child and adolescent, and Clark only finds out who he truly is with the arrival of General Zod.
This struggle conflicts Clark throughout the film, yet he chooses to stay true to the people who raised him. Overall, this instalment of Superman is much darker and conflicting than the hero we have come to know.
Despite this, the action of the film is incredible and Henry Cavill puts in a strong performance as The American Hero.
