It was a well done origin story for Superman. Having grown up in the country, I think Henry Cavill did a great job portraying a country boy while he traveled around to find himself and who he is. Only thing that bugged me was that the movie got to be a bit "Hulk smash" towards the end.
They needed to break the fighting up with some story plot elements. Otherwise a quite enjoyable movie.
