I enjoyed the Hell out of this. I'm sorry.
Yes, the plot can't - or won't - balance the 'humour' with the (supposed) seriousness, and the CGI mammoth is woeful, especially in the daylight (although credit is due for the design on the creature, which is actually great). Also, Summer Glau doesn't appear to have any dialogue for the first half of the film.
But, you know, as far as 'alien entity possesses the preserved remains of a prehistoric woolly mammoth and runs amok' movies go, this is easily the best.
