Review of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) by Bri H — 11 Aug 2018
As a lover and supporter of adding musical interludes to any form of media, I was beyond excited to hear that Mamma Mia would finally have its long awaited sequel...the wait was worth it. The plot is completely different than the original, it shows a different side to all of the beloved characters.
And of course, serves as a tribute to the one and only Donna. With a few old faces and songs, along with some newcomers, this sequel is one of the very few that may rival its predecessor. It adds depth to the plot of the first movie, seeing Donna's young life in parallel to Sophie's current situation.
Navigating a new chapter without the person she loves most, not realizing fully at first that her mother is still everywhere in spirit. This movie pulled tears out of me pretty much from the start- happy, sad, reminiscent, you name it.
Definitely a worthwhile watch if you're a fan of ABBA or Mamma Mia...or Cher.
