Review of Mamma Mia! (2008) by Jonny B — 26 Apr 2012
While Mamma Mia! maybe a fun, bubbly sing-a-long for all ages, it has a dire plot, some poor acting and dreadful singing from Pierce Brosnan!
Amanda Seyfried is Sophie, a fun and joyful young female, preparing for her marriage, and inviting her three possible fathers to the wedding in a bid to discover who her real one actually is. Crazy? Without doubt!
The stellar star cast entail Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters, Colin Firth and Seyfried herself but surely they could have been put to better use than a karaoke style affair involving countless songs from hit 70's group ABBA.
Don't get me wrong, it's fine to have a film which is just about having a good time instead of the seriousness cast on recent movies. However, this is not for the mature younger generation who listen to the likes of JLS and Olly Murs!
