Review of Mama (2013) by Brandon M — 19 Aug 2013
This movie is definitely one of my favorites. I first saw it in theaters, and it caused me and the friend I went to see it with to jump out of our pants multiple times.
It is full of dread and suspense, and the jump-scares are pretty effective, too. The CGI that makes up the entire entity of Mama is sometimes too computer-y looking, but still very disturbing nonetheless.
The dark, brooding atmosphere, awesome acting, and smart script make for a very entertaining movie. Some scenes could have been left out, which lead to some dragging-on, but it is a minor flaw.
If it doesn't work for you in terms of scares, it will definitely hook you with its mood and story.
