Review of Mallrats (1995) by Henrik S — 21 Mar 2009
A bumpy ride. In the spirit of the 90ies, somehwhere between Wayne's World and Bill & Ted. Expect lots of adolescent sex references, pranks, comic book discussions and cheesy makeup-makeout sessions.
Kevin Smith's usual suspects are present in this movie. Jay and Silent Bob are (as always) the best attraction of the show with Jason Lee doing a solid job. Still, Jeremy London, Ben Affleck and all other actors are the worst and make you cringe.
Sometimes, the script can be witty but these exceptions do not make up for the general lack of intelligence in the script and the irony is not obvious enough to take enough bad taste away from the obscenity.
If you are into 90ies teenage flicks, think Singles, Wayne's World,Bill & Ted or even Dude, where is my car ?, you might enjoy this.
You should consider watching Kevin Smith's other movies instead: Clerks or Dogma.
