Review of Mallrats (1995) by Scott I — 05 Sep 2009
A classic for anyone who appreciates comics and off beat humor. I have to say I like the theatrical cut more than the extended, despite the extended cut having some good additional lulz. But a lot of the extra scenes hurt the story and flow of it, such as the opening sequence. Instead of a hilarious voice over from Brodie while shots of the mall are shown, we get an unfunny situation between T.S. and his girlfriend Brandi. It makes you feel unsympathetic to T.S. unlike in the theatrical version, in the extended he comes off as a total ass rather than a victim of mostly circumstance and Brandi's total prick of a dad.
But all that aside, this has more hilarity than you can shake a stick at. It's just a fun romp from Jay and Silent Bob's antics to the great banter between Brodie and, well, anyone. As long as Brodie is in the scene, you'll be in stitches. You know what else rocks? Seeing Ben Affleck get owned.
