Review of Mallrats (1995) by Andrew S — 03 Dec 2009

I was expecting something more along the lines of the Clerks humor. While this film obviously shares similar storytelling traits and styles and even the same characters, I was slightly let down. I thought Kevin Smith focused a bit too much on this out landnish mall adventure were I was hoping for some good character interaction on a conversational level.

All there are some great dialogue scenes in the film. It was nice to see Silent Bob and Jay but they weren't well used as they had been previously in Clerks. Here it seems there just being incorporated into the film as a novelty item.

I thought the film could have used a lot more Shannon Dorthey she was one of more interesting characters introduced. I wish she had been given more screen time.
