Review of Mallrats (1995) by Jamison R — 16 Apr 2010
This movie has slowly slid down my list of Kevin Smith films. Jason Lee is fabulous ad Brodie Bruce, and its hard to believe he was fresh off the skate scene here in his first role. The dialogue is sharp and witty, but unfortunately the main drawback was the casting of Jeremy London.
For me, he was the reason this movie doesn't hold up. He was incapable of delivering the lines, showed mixed emotions, and got walked over in every scene he was in. The side plot with Jay and Silent Bob is fine, and Ben Affleck was decent in this.
I really enjoy the final act of this film surrounding the game show. Overall still a good movie.
