Review of Malignant (2021) by Chanekecholo — 13 Dec 2021
James Wan knows how to play with the plot twists in this film, but he doesn't know how to give them a background. At first, I felt the film very peculiar and in someway incoherence, nevertheless, at the end Malignant achieves coherence with all previous, but like I said without a steady development.
The visual aspect isn't far for his last horror films (The Conjuring 1 & 2), that's why it gets a visual delight, the performances were half fine and the mystery about who or what is the antagonist is very interesting and astonishing.
I have a theory about that abrupt ending, everyone in that scene die and that's why Madison can controls Gabriel quickly, because she before that gets shot from the detective Kekoa and then Gabriel kills his mother and Madison's sister; or outright James Wan didn't know how to end this film, so he just cut to black without show us a precise conclusion and coherent.
