Review of Malice (1993) by Michael O — 05 Jun 2008
When they teach you screeplays in school there's all this stuff about beats, and inciting incidents and plot twists and McGuffins. Malice seems like a movie where the writer is a straight A student.
He used all the elements and fit them all together. The screenplay teacher would have no choice but to give him an A. So why isn't this movie considered a classic? Maybe a little too clever for it's own good? There's no recipe for brilliance.
It's just nice to embrace beautiful flaws in art once in a while.
