Review of Malena (2000) by Diana M — 27 Dec 2007
Fantastic soundtrack, courtesy of the genius that is Ennio Morricone.
Another insightful movie that takes a teenage boy's coming of age beyond sexuality and into a rough and unfair society struggling with the war.
The protagonist becomes a witness to the life of a woman too beautiful for her own good, who falls victim to the cruelty of the times and yet surfaces again with grace and dignity.
This movie triumphs in showing youth at it's finest; a period of mistakes and discoveries which ironically provides enough clarity to see and understand the important things in any society and time.
