It was nice to see a film about Sicilians which didn't include the Mafia. It's about the little people, subject to the machinations of war and the human weaknesses of pride, lust, greed and jealousy.
It is comic and tragic. Romantic and cruel. it is about unconditional love however futile the situation. I loved this film.
