Maleficient provides the back-story about what many were taught was the evil witch in the Sleeping Beauty tale - a heart-wrenching vision of a betrayed lover, a scorned woman, a beautiful woodland fairy so compassionate but who was not worthy enough for a man of wealth and power.
She seeks vengeance upon his family after his horrific abuse of her only to fall unwillingly in love with his child. Angelina Jolie's most amazing role. Her real-life tough exterior but true-to-life maternal instincts shows through.
Best role yet! Loved her in this movie! Some elements were a bit confusing and missed explanation or just didn't make sense, but the power of Angie's role is breathtaking and makes up for small incidentals.
