Review of Maleficent (2014) by Andrew S — 22 Jan 2015
I went in this movie with low expectations, and not often does a movie go lower than the low, but this movie did unfortunately.
The one thing I liked about this movie was Angelina Jolie. I think she did pretty good, but she surprisingly didn't have as much dialogue as I thought she would and it was very surprising. Her crow was pretty cool also. I wish we could've gotten more of her because maybe, just maybe, she could've saved the movie.
But unfortunately, she didn't. This movie was dumb. In my opinion, this movie was made for Disney to make up for the money losing crap bomb known as the Lone Ranger. And even though this film made up for it, the movie sucked. This movie has an underlying message that angers me and it made me hate this movie even more when I found out about it. All men are represented terrible. And they are awfully developed characters. Sharlto Copley is awful in this movie. I don't know if that's just how he talks, but it was annoying. And Prince Phillip was so rushed and an awful character. And I never thought I would be bored in a 90 minute movie. But, I was. If you have a 90 minute bore fest, there is something wrong with your movie.
And one of my main problems is that they turned Disney's greatest villain to a hero. But, why? It was so stupid and it angered me that they did that. Plus this movie and Frozen basically had the same ending. I don't know if that was just by coincidence, but that is kinda convenient that those movies came out 6 months apart and have basically the same ending. But, Frozen was way better than this garbage.
Overall, I thought it was okay when I first saw it, but after a second viewing, I knew that it was much worse than I thought it was. I give it 1 out of 5 stars and I hope I never have to watch this ever again.
