Review of Maleficent (2014) by Zoe M — 25 Jan 2015
I rolled my eyes when I first heard about this film, but one day I had nothing better to do than watch it, and so I did. It's visually stunning and well-acted by all involved, but like most prequels, you already know how it's going to end- at least, you think you do.
A very stereotypically Disney ending rolls in at the last second, but is uneffective. It would have been interesting for the good and evil themes to be played with on a more dynamic level, but typical to Disney, you can tell pretty quickly who's good and who's not.
Also whoever did Jolie's makeup should be fired, those cheekbones could not possibly look more fake. Overall, it's not a bad film, but it could've been so much better.
